Stationary Planner

The Position

To organize, co-ordinate and manage the preventative maintenance program following the company's guidelines to implement reliability centered maintenance strategy, planning for short & long-term maintenance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate maintenance activities between the Maintenance and production front line supervisors 
  • Preparation and review of detailed work plans that include step by step instructions, safety considerations, special tasks or tools, weights of components, parts lists, type of lubricants to be used, etc. 
  • Review of PM’s to access their usefulness and determine updates as required. 
  • Short & long term planning 
  • Tracking and maintaining asset history. 
  • Creation of work orders for planned jobs & PM’s 
  • Procurement of parts and parts tracking for planned jobs in conjunction with the purchasing department. 
  • Aiding with the preparation of annual budgets 
  • Preparing monthly reports that include cost to date and work completed or outstanding for the month 
  • Optimizing repair schedules 
  • Implementing processes and systems to aid with planning functions and other duties as assigned 

Health & Safety Accountabilities 

  • Ensure the maintenance programs are established and implemented so equipment operates according to company, federal, provincial and municipal standards. 
  • Safety is always to be considered when work is planned.  
  • Include any special safety considerations when jobs are planned (confined space, lock out requirements, non-routine hazardous tasks, etc.). 
  • Promote and adhere to the company's Mines environmental and sustainability polices. 
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with external agencies (i.e. MOL, MOE, WSN,). 
  • Work closely with the area supervisor and safety coordinators to create a plan that will incorporate safety into work procedures 

Strategic Planning 

  • Promote and build a positive & co-operative working relationship with all departments keeping safety, production and costs as primary elements to meet the plan. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Maintenance Technician/Technologist, Certified tradesperson, or a combination of education (graduate of college Maintenance Program) and work experiences. 
  • 5 years of stationary equipment maintenance planning related experience. 
  • 10 years experience in the mechanical discipline, including hoisting plant and welding fabrication.  
  • Computer literate with specific knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, and MS Project. 
  • Knowledge of underground mining stationary equipment. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning using computerized maintenance software. 
  • Cost and Budgeting skills 
  • Must have good organizational skills, problem solving ability and familiarity with maintenance terminology. 
  • Experience in predictive maintenance utilizing oil analysis, vibration analysis, & ND testing. 
  • Must develop major component replacement schedules based on history of equipment with forecasts to support budgeting processes 
  • Must perform critical parts review for key equipment. 
  • Must have project management skills
