The Position
Responsible for the supervision of an underground construction crew. To lead, organize, plan and direct the day to day underground construction services for operational needs of the mine department to meet budgeted safety, production and costs. Coordinate materials and liaise with engineering to successfully complete construction projects on time. Manage daily Deswik OPs updates and be an expert at site.

- Ensure that all work is completed and equipment operated according to applicable standards.
- Ensure safety concerns are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Lead by example and actively promote full participation by all Discovery safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
Managing People
- Supervise underground construction workers
- Ensure workers have the tools and resources to complete their assigned duties safely and efficiently
- Identify opportunities for improvements (training, tools, etc.) and implement corrective actions when required.
- Coach, hold to account and evaluate workers
- Develop action plans and follow up throughout the year.
Strategic Planning
- Responsible for implementation of Deswik Ops mine scheduling software at site.
- Become site’s super user to assist other operations personnel such as dispatch, supervisors and GFs in alignment of the mine plan.
- Promote and build a positive and co-operative working relationship with all departments keeping safety, production and costs as primary elements to meet the mine plan.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Assist with planning and implementation of support projects.
Contract Management
- Coordinate and manage contracts associated with underground construction.
Create and provide timelines of projects with good communication across the site on daily progress
Skills and Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma and minimum 5 years direct underground mining experience or mine engineering experience
- Post-secondary education would be considered an asset
- Some experience and training in a spare supervisory role
- Supervisory common core
- Strong Deswik Ops mine scheduling software experience
- Ability to interpret site plans / maps and offer input to construction activities.
- Have strong communication and people skills.
- Require good troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
- Project management and knowledge of SAP software is an asset

Competitive total compensation package including:

- Annual total compensation of CAD$139,895 to CAD$172,811 (including annual bonus eligibility).
