The Position

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and delivering all Human Resources programs, services, and initiatives at the mine site, ensuring alignment with Discovery’s corporate and local policies and programs in support of Borden’s strategic objectives. The Human Resources Manager will partner closely with site leadership to support operational effectiveness, workforce planning, employee relations and talent management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support site leadership in achieving operational and business objectives with the objective of fostering a positive, inclusive and respective workplace.
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to site employees and leaders across employee relations, performance management, attendance, compensation administration, benefits coordination, workforce documentation, and HR reporting.
  • Champion Discovery’s culture, values, and leadership expectations across the site.
  • Ensure corporate HR programs and initiatives are effectively implemented and administered at the site level.
  • Lead or support workplace investigations and recommend appropriate outcomes and corrective actions.
  • Partner with managers to support labour budgeting, workforce planning and in turn collaborate with regional recruitment to ensure timely fulfillment of vacancies. 
  • Support the administration of the Company's performance management process and coach leaders on performance expectations, employee development, and career planning.
  • Identify training and development needs and facilitate learning opportunities that support individual and organizational growth.
  • Administer compensation practices, benefits and pension plans in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Support salary administration, job evaluations, incentive programs, and employee recognition initiatives.
  • Coordinate with disability management specialists on case management, return to work programs and modified work arrangements. 
  • Promote employee wellness and support initiatives that enhance employee engagement and well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights legislation, privacy requirements, occupational health and safety obligations, and other applicable legislation and maintain accurate employee records and site HR documentation.
  • Analyze and report on workforce metrics, including headcount, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, and training and identify trends and provide recommendations to site and corporate leadership.
  • Collaborate with regional HR and corporate HR on new initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or equivalent professional designation preferred.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of progressive HR experience, including site-based or project-based HR leadership in mining, construction, natural resources, infrastructure, or another industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, labour relations, and human resources best practices.
